On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations between Romania and China, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing is organizing the first Romanian exhibition at the prestigious CAFA Art Museum in Beijing. The exhibition, titled "The Sublime", is curated by visual artist Dani Ghercă and marks a milestone in promoting contemporary Romanian art in China.
The opening event will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 3:00 PM, followed by a thematic conference scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, at 4:00 PM in the CAFA Art Museums Atrium, providing a platform for conceptual and aesthetic discussions on the themes explored in the exhibition.
The exhibition features five monumental works (2x3 meters) displayed on LED panels, showcasing aerial photographs of metropolitan architecture captured during Dani Ghercă's residency at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai. The works merge two of the artist's significant projects: "Glimpses & Ruptures" (2020–present) and "The Sublime" (2024). They examine the impact of technology on human interactions and the concept of "the sublime" in contemporary urban landscapes of China. The exhibition will remain open to the public until January 5, 2025.
