The Romanian Celebration of Love– "Dragobetele" in Beijing , 24th February 2024

The Romanian Celebration of Love– "Dragobetele" was marked by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing, on Saturday, February 24th, starting from 20:00, at Jinshang Yuan inner garden, situated in the Chaoyang district of the Chinese capital, through the organization of a folk music show, featuring two renowned artists Gheorghe Turda and Georgiana Pană, concluded with a pop-rock performance by the singer Helciug Dan. The show was complemented by a fashion parade featuring 14 outfits inspired by the tradition of Țara Oașului, from the INEDIT EtnoGlam collection of the creator Sorina Tulan, presented on stage by young professional models from a fashion agency in Beijing.

The opening speech was given by the director of ICR Beijing, Liviu Țăranu, who explained the significance of this holiday for the Romanians, then invited Mrs. Marina Almășan, a renowned journalist and TV host, the initiator of the project, on stage. She took the audience through memories she gathered during her previous visits to China, presenting her own books and images from those travels.

The famous Romanian folk music artist Gheorghe Turda sang about love for the country and love for his homeland. He concluded the performance with a famous Chinese love song, to the satisfaction of the audience, telling them that he had previously sung in China in 1982, during his first visit.

Georgiana Pană, who comes from a family of musicians, delighted the audience with songs such as "Mociriță cu trifoi," "Am o mândră mititică," "Joc moldovenesc," "Geamparale," "Sanie cu zurgălăi," "Săracă inima me," "Ciocârlia," and others. Like Gheorghe Turda, Georgiana Pană concluded the performance with a popular Chinese song.

At the end of the show, the stage belonged to the beloved pop-rock singer and composer, Helciug Dan, who immediately captivated the audience with his original interpretation, stage presence, communication with those present, performing songs such as "Ce bine că ești," "Cântec din palma ta," "Fluturi," "Bună dimineața!," "Oameni." And finally, a trendy Chinese melody, to the joy of the Chinese audience in the hall.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Romania to Beijing, H.E. Mr. Dan-Horia Maxim, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Mr. Dumitru Braghiș, the Consul of Romania in Beijing, Mr. Valentin Petrache, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as over 200 other guests, including personalities from the artistic and academic world, such as Prof. Dr. Ding Chao and Prof. Dr. Dong Xixiao from the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).

The event was appreciated by colleagues from Chinese cultural centers for promoting culture abroad, as well as by journalists from local media: CCTV6 and Radio China International. Additionally, the promotion of the event was carried out on the online platforms of ICR/ICR Beijing on social media (Website/WeChat/Facebook), on the WeChat page of the hosts at JinShang, as well as on the artists' pages.
