Christmas Concert "Holy Night"with students from NAS Beijing, conducted by soprano Cornelia Crainic

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing, in partnership with the Orchestra and Choir of Nord Anglia School Beijing, Shunyi, is pleased to invite you to the Christmas Concert "Holy Night", which will take place on December 19, 2024, at 5:30 PM, at the ICR Beijing headquarters in Galaxy SOHO. The Choir and Orchestra of Nord Anglia School Beijing will perform 16 Christmas pieces under the direction of soprano Cornelia Crainic and pianist Timothy O'Reilly. The concert’s repertoire includes carols performed in English and Romanian, presented in orchestral, choral, duet, and solo formats, promising to enchant the audience.

Cornelia Crainic, a Romanian soprano, voice teacher, and educator, holds a Master’s degree in Arts, specializing in Music, from the Bucharest Conservatory. With a profound passion for music, Cornelia has dedicated her life to perfecting her interpretive art and advancing music education. Over her career, she has received numerous awards and distinctions for her outstanding performances and participation in international music, dance, and arts festivals. In addition to her artistic achievements, Cornelia is passionate about music education and currently teaches music theory and vocal techniques to students of all ages at NAS International School in Beijing.

Timothy O'Reilly, an educator and performer, is currently the Director of the Arts Department at Nord Anglia School Beijing, Shunyi. With a Master’s degree in Music Psychology in Education from the University of Sheffield, Timothy is known for his pedagogical approach rooted in a deep understanding of musical psychology. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with prestigious institutions in Beijing and excelled as a pianist and classical music performer.

The Children’s Choir and Orchestra of Nord Anglia School Beijing, Shunyi, form a vibrant musical community that contributes significantly to the artistic development of students.

By presenting a diverse repertoire that includes both traditional carols and international works, the ICR Beijing concert "Holy Night" offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the Nativity and promote intercultural dialogue through music. Romanian carols, an integral part of the national cultural heritage, reflect universal values such as faith, humility, and spiritual joy, symbolizing faith and national identity.
