The 14th edition of the European Film Festival, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute, will take place over May 6 - 30, 2010 in Bucharest, Braşov, Iaşi, Tîrgu-Mureş and Timişoara. The program will include over 50 films, representing 28 European countries.
WHAT'S NEW
- a record number of films: 53
- the first-time participation of Israel and Serbia
- a local edition in Tîrgu-Mureş
- the Vintage collection, which brings together eight of the best films from previous editions of the festival
- a day dedicated to Romanian film
The festival will open on May 6, at Cinema PRO in Bucharest, with the projection of Das Weisse Band (Austria, 2009), directed by Michael Haeneke. The film has received the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Picture of 2009, together with numerous other international awards.
The honorary ambassador of this year's European Film Festival is director Radu Jude, winner of the C.I.C.A.E. Prize at the Berlin Film Festival (2009) and the FIPRESCI Prize at the Sofia International Film Festival for feature-length film The Happiest Girl in the World (Cea mai fericită fată din lume).
In Bucharest, the festival will take place over May 6 – 16, with showinga at Cinema Studio and Noul Cinematograf al Regizorului Român. The festival will continue in Braşov (May 13 - 16), Iaşi (May 20 – 23), Tîrgu-Mureş (Mat 21 – 23), and Timişoara (May 27 – 30).
The European Film Festival is organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute, and the film selection is carried out with the help of the embassies and cultural centers of the European nations. Partners: The European Commission Representation in Romania, Uniunea Cineaştilor din România (The Romanian Cineastes' Union), and Muzeul Ţăranului Român (The Romanian Peasants' Museum), with the support of Independenţa Film and Clorofilm.
ONE NIGHT AND ONE DAY OF CLASSIC FILMS
The VINTAGE collection of this year's edition brings together 8 of the most acclaimed films that showed during the previous editions of the festival. The Films will be shown at Muzeul Ţăranului Român on the night of May 15 and all day May 16. This section is carried out with the support of Independenţa Film.

Cost of one ticket: 10 RON
Cost of a subscription (6 entries): 40 RON
SUBSCRIPTIONS will go on sale May 1, 2010 at the ticket windows of Studio and NCRR (Muzeul Ţăranului Român). A subscription allows for 6 entries (as space allows) at any of the two theaters. Before each showing, subscription holders are invited to get their seat tickets at the ticket window.
OPENING GALA (May 6): by invitation only.
