In 2004, a Romanian Center for Information was created in Brussels (RCIB), which, since 2007, has de facto joined the Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) network abroad.

In October 2011, the Center officially became the Romanian Cultural Institute in Brussels.

2004-2010 – Andrei Țărnea, first director of the Romanian Center for Information Brussels (RCIB)

2010-2017 – Robert Adam, director of the RCI Brussels

2017- July 31, 2019 – Carmen Ducaru, director of the RCI Brussels

2018-present – Adriana Pietrăreanu, deputy director of the RCI Brussels

August 1, 2019-present – Liliana Țuroiu, director of the RCI Brussels

The Romanian Cultural Institute Brussels - RCI Brussels - is part of the network of Romanian cultural institutes abroad.

RCI Brussels has the mission to promote Romanian culture and civilization in the Benelux. Its purpose is to represent, promote and protect national culture and civilization in this specific area.

The objectives and the cultural management assumed and ensured by the RCI Brussels are adapted, both to the specific context of Brussels - the capital of Europe, and to the entire Benelux area.

Nevertheless, RCI Brussels facilitates contacts and partnerships between Romanian cultural institutions and counterparts in the Benelux, promotes Romanian artists in prestigious and highly visible cultural contexts; disseminates the most relevant information about Romania and Romanian culture, stimulates academic cooperation between Romania and Benelux, preserves the cultural and linguistic identity of Romanians living in Benelux, shares information on cooperation opportunities at European level in the RCI network, promotes openness to other cultures of the world.

Since 2007, RCI Brussels has been one of the most active members of EUNIC Brussels - the European Union Network of Cultural Institutes in Brussels.

In 2009 and 2010, the Institute held the presidency of EUNIC Brussels; since 2010, RCI Brussels has been a full and active member of EUNIC Netherlands.
