Heads of European cultural institutes are coming to the EUNIC General Assembly in Bucharest

The General Assembly of EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture will be held in Bucharest on 19-20 June 2024, bringing together the heads of cultural institutes from the European Union, members of the EUNIC network, which is the network of national cultural institutes from all EU member states in addition to the United Kingdom and Ukraine. Representatives from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the United Kingdom, Poland, Portugal, Moldova, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and Hungary have confirmed their participation. On this occasion, the President of the Romanian Cultural Institute, Liviu Jicman, will take over the EUNIC presidency from the current President, the Director of the Danish Cultural Institute, Camilla Mordhorst, who has led the EUNIC network for a year.

Shared challenges, from geopolitical shifts to technological advancements, unite us in our commitment to elevate culture in international relations. Individual struggles often mirror common challenges, fostering fruitful discussions regardless of country size or budget. The transition from a traditional cultural promotion to a more cooperative approach is still going on. I happily pass the baton to our Vice President Liviu Jicman from the Romanian Cultural Institute, convinced that we are by no means done developing the network, but that we are on the right track.– Camilla Mordhorst, the director of the Cultural Danish Institute.
