Our much-admired concert series, the “Enescu Concerts”, returns on 1st October, in a format that combines the brilliance of old times with the rigours of the "new normal".
The opening recital will welcome Lithuanian pianist and George Enescu enthusiast Morta Grigaliūnaitė, sharing her ardour towards expanding the depth of the repertoire with a small live audience magnified in a subsequent online broadcast.
The programme features two premieres in our concert series, by Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks and Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz.

Described as “an excellent performer – powerful and dramatic”, Morta Grigaliūnaite has established herself as an active soloist and chamber musician with performances broadcasted live in more than 40 countries through the classical music channel Mezzo. Morta first came to public attention in 2005, when she performed at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall in Vilnius at Mstislav Rostropovich’s invitation. Since then, she was invited as a soloist with orchestras such as the National Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra, St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra, Georgian State Chamber Orchestra, and the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra. She has performed at Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, St. John’s Smith Square, UNESCO Headquarters, Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, and Batumi Centre of Arts amongst others.
Morta’s passion for undeservedly forgotten repertoire can be seen throughout her musical accomplishments. In 2019 she released her debut album featuring the solo piano works by Grażyna Bacewicz, a rare choice of piano repertoire, for which she continues to receive outstanding reviews. Her recordings have been featured on BBC Radio 3, as well as Fanfare and Diapason magazines.
After being introduced to the music of George Enescu, she was selected to perform at the Romanian Athenaeum as part of the 2016 Enescu Competition.

We would like to offer the chance to attend a live concert in the 2020-2021 season to as many members of our beloved public as possible. To this end, we will prioritise in the future those unsuccessful in their previous attempts.

Visiting Safely
The health and safety of our visitors and staff is paramount, so we kindly ask visitors to follow government advice on safety measures as a minimum. We ask everyone entering the building to maintain a safe social distance (doesn’t apply to members of the same household) and is required to wear a face-covering at all times. There will be hand sanitisers available for public use. Social groups should be a maximum of 6 people.
