Salut! Free Romanian Classes Online

The Romanian Cultural Institute in London is inviting adults and children alike to explore this beautiful Romance language through a completely free module, lasting three months. The weekly classes will gradually introduce new topics, building up your confidence and giving you plenty of opportunities to practice in a highly interactive environment.

The course is taught in Romanian and English with coverage of the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, and a balance between communicative activities, structure practice and grammar.

Studying Romanian with the Romanian Cultural Institute offers access to highly experienced teachers and makes you part of a community where your interest in Romania is valued and nurtured. Our friendship is for life.

The classes are divided according to age and previous experience. At the moment, we are able to cater for the following groups:

Salut, exploratori! is the highly adventurous quest for children with a recommended age of 5-10 years old, with little or no knowledge of the language. Live classes on Saturdays from 10.00, starting on 16 May, with a duration of approximately 50 minutes. Class tutor: Ms. Daniela Ciupala.

Salut, prieteni!introduces Romanian to adults with little or no previous knowledge. Live classes on Tuesdays from 18.00, starting on 12 May, with a duration of approximately 60 minutes. Class tutor: Ms. Daniela Ciupala.

Salut, companioni!is best suited for adults withpre-intermediate/intermediate levels of Romanian who want to make further progress. Live classes on Thursdays from 18.00 starting on 14 May, with a duration of approximately 60 minutes. Class tutor: Mrs. Carmen Raris-Fierbinteanu.

What you are getting:

- weekly class on Zoom and Youtube with an experienced and enthusiastic teacher. The participation in the Zoom class is limited to the first 20 persons who sign up for each group but the sessions are broadcasted live on Youtube so that no one misses out.

- personalised feedback from your teacher on your out-of-class assignments (this includes the Youtube students who send in their homework).

What you will need:

- access to computer, tablet or mobile phone with Internet connection;

- pen and paper.

Daniela Ciupalahas a Master of Education in Professional Practice and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with Teaching Qualification from the University of Glasgow. In the past 10 years she has been working as a Language Tutor in the UK and Romania.

Carmen Raris-Fierbinteanu has graduated from the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest and in 2016 she got her PhD. She has been teaching Romanian as a foreign language since 2011 both in Bucharest and London (at the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies and the University of Westminster).
