The ensemble was formed in 2004 by four outstanding young musicians, quickly establishing their place internationally with creative programming, combining contemporary and classical repertoire to critical acclaim. For the past four years, they have been the ensemble-in-residence at the SoNoRo Festival in Bucharest, one of Eastern Europe's most successful and innovative music festivals, performing with musicians including Konstantin Lifschitz, Daishin Kashimoto, Mark Padmore, Alexander Chaushian, David Cohen and Adrian Brendel. Ensemble Raro gave the British and German premières of Peteris Vasks's Piano Quartet.
