The Romanian Cultural Days in Lebanon - 2013

The Romanian Cultural Days in Lebanon will be held between the 20th of November and the 1st of December in Beirut, Sin el Fil, Tripoli and Jounieh. This extensive event is organized by the Romanian Embassy in Lebanon and the Romanian Cultural Institute, with the support of local partners. The events are addressed to the Romanian community in Lebanon as well as to the Lebanese public.

The program includes screenings of the latest Romanian movies - Child’s Pose (Poziția copilului-2013), directed by Calin Peter Netzer and Everybody in Our Family (Toată lumea din familia noastră-2012), directed by Radu Jude, meetings of Lebanese university students with Romanian cinematography specialists, the conference of Lebanese graduates of Romanian universities, special activities for children (short presentations about Romania - history, culture, traditions, exhibitions with images of Romania, Romanian animations, games and contests). Moreover, there will be the inauguration of the Romanian library at the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Tripoli and the beginning of the Romanian language courses for the children of the Romanian community in North Lebanon.

Within the Romanian Cultural Days in Lebanon there will be held in Beirut and Jounieh two classical music concerts on the occasion of the National Day of Romania. In Beirut, the pianist Mihai Ungureanu will be having a concert with the National Lebanese Philarmonic Orchestra and in Jounieh, the Romanian string quartet “Arton” formed by Ondin Brezeanu (violin), Silviu G. Gherasimescu (violin), Lucian Cristea (viola) and Magdalena Sokola (cello), will be playing pieces of Romanian and foreign composers (Ciprian Porumbescu, Constantin Dimitrescu, Grigoraş Dinicu, Béla Bartók, Alfred Alessandrescu etc.).

The project is conducted in cooperation with the Romania-Levant Association, the Association of Lebanese Graduates of Romanian Universities, the Moldovan-Lebanese Friendship Association, the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Tripoli, Metropolis Art Cinema, and prestigious academic institutions such as the Holy Spirit of Kaslik University and the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Balamand.
