Maia Morgenstern is a Romanian actress of Jewish descent and manager of the State Jewish Theater of Bucharest (TES), since the fall of 2012. Her acting career spans over three decades, having made her debut at age 18, on the TES stage, while her debut on the National Theater stage took place ten years later, in the leading roles in the „Ancient Trilogy”, developed for stage by director Andrei Serban. Morgenstern had enjoyed wide recognition from Romanian film-goers long before she became known to the international public with her lead-role in Lucian Pintilie's „The Oak”, 1992, followed by her supporting-role, along Harvey Keitel, in Theodorus Angelopoulos' „Ulyses Gaze”, 1995, and the role of Jesus' mother in Mel Gibson's „The Passion of the Christ”.
Her work in film received professional recognition from her peers, with the 1993 Silver Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival, for her role in "The Oak". She is also the recipient of the 2004 Actress and Woman of the Year Award, EMMA, from the European Parliament, for the role Mary in "The Passion of the Christ", 2004.

Valentin Rosca is a Romanian ballet dancer, currently holding the position of first-soloist with the Music-hall Theater „Constantin Tanase”, in Bucharest. Rosca worked with major Romanian choreographers, as Cornel Patrichi and Ioan Tugearu. He danced in the 2005 National Theater version of Bob Fosse's „Chicago”, and received the 1997 Best Performer Award at the Seoul's Everland Amusement Park, South Korea.
Rosca was also recognized for his work as a director and choreographer for the 2010 „Tango Emocion”, at the National Opera House, and received the 2009 award from the Union of Composers and Musical Critics, for his choreography at the Comic Opera for Children.

Speck and Naughty is a double-recital of the two protagonists: actress Maia Morgenstern and dancer Valentin Rosca, built around the poems written by the Romania-born Jewish writer Isaac Lazarovici, better known to its Romanian audience under the pen-name of Ion Pribeagu.
The whimsical, mischievous lines of Pribeagu's poems, which criticize human mores, are as alive now as when they were written, some 70 years ago, and Maia Morgenstern delivers them with a lot of zest. Both actress and dancer dazzle and engage the audience in a tongue-in-cheek performance that proves them to be at the peak of their trade.
