The Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague in partnership with Film Distribution Artcam will be launching the Romanian film The Treasure by Corneliu Porumboiu in cinemas in the Czech Republic.
The avanpremiere will take place on February 3rd, 2016, at 8 p.m. at Kino 35 - the cinema of the French Institute in Prague (Štěpánská 644/35, 110 00 Praha 1). Director Corneliu Porumboiu and actor Adrian Purcarescu will be present at the event. The program of the evening will consist of a presentation of the film by the organizers and guests (Mr. Ionuț-Petre Munteanu, Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague, Mr. Alexandre Pajon, Deputy Director of the French Institute in Prague, Ms. Sylvie Leray, Director of Film Distribution Artcam, Film director Corneliu Porumboiu and actor Adrian Purcarescu), film screening (89') and discussions with the audience (30').
The Treasure / Poklad / Le Trésor (Corneliu Porumboiu, Romania / France, 2015, 89') will be screened in cinemas starting with February 4th, 2016 in Romanian with Czech subtitles.
On February 4th, 2016 the film will be launched in Brno, Czech Republic. Film director Corneliu Porumboiu and actor Adrian Purcarescutot will be present at the event. The film will be screened at Kino ART (Cihlářská 19, Brno, 602 00), at 8:30 p.m..
The Treasure, one of the newest Romanian films is a minimalist fairytale about childhood dreams coming true. It obtained the Un Certain Regard award at the Cannes festival and makes Porumboiu be one of the most fascinating Romanian film directors today. The film tells the story of Costi, an apparently ordinary character. One evening, while reading a story to his 6 years old son, he is interrupted by a neighbour who comes to borrow money saying that his great-grandfather had burried a treasure somewhere in his courtyard, in his village, before the Communists came to power. If Costi paid someone who came with a metal detector and found the treasure, they would split its value in two. Costi does not think too much about it...
