"Freedom Express”. Become a time machine passenger. Come along on a journey tracing the events that changed the face of Europe 25 years ago. Sign up before the end of June.

"Freedom Express" is a two-week journey through six countries of the former communist block, in which 20 young artists, academics, journalists and cultural animators from all of Europe will participate. The project begins on 29 August in Gdańsk and will end in Berlin. The trip programme includes: street art, municipal games, workshops, meetings with artists and oppositionists as well as joint film-making and blog creation.

All of the works will be recorded in a documentary presenting the confrontation of a young generation with the traces of breakthrough in Central and Eastern Europe.

To take part in this journey, simply fill out the application form found at: www.freedomexpress.enrs.eu by the end of June and prepare an artistic, scientific, academic or journalist work, expressing the author's own view of the breakthrough in 1989 and the path of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe towards freedom. These works can include: graphic designs, photographs, collages, short films, essays, as well as interviews with history experts.

European Network Remembrance and Solidarity is the organiser of the "Freedom Express” social-educational campaign. The experts who will select the journey participants include: Krzysztof Czyżewski, Polish author, translator and Director of the "Borderland” Centre in Sejny, Michał Murin, Slovak artist-performer, author of books on modern art and a lecturer on new media, Matthias Kneip, outstanding German journalist, poet and writer, cooperating with the German Institute of Polish Culture and Lia Perjovschi, one of the most distinguished visual arts artist from Romania.
