Translators Scholarships Programme

1. Grants for professional translators

The grantees will have the opportunity of spending a period of one month in Romania, a chance for them to have a direct contact with the Romanian literary environment as well as the works and authors they are envisaging in their proposals. Below, you can find a more detailed description of the two types of scholarships encapsulated by the Translators Grants Programme.

Deadline for submitting the applications: May 30th, 2017.

Annually, the Romanian Cultural Institute offers 5 scholarships destined for experienced professional translators that have the chance to spend one or two months (according to each of the candidates choice expressed within the application documents) in Romania conducting their translation work.

The grant varies from 1 000 Euros (one installment/one month spent in Romania).

The domain for which the evaluation and selection process is going to be performed: translation.

The length of the scholarships: one month.

The requested documents for the application:-Resume (that should contain among others: participation to colloquiums, seminaries of translation, conferences, sessions and projects of translation);-A copy of the passport and the identity card containing a stable address;-Copies of the study certificates/graduation papers;-Letter of intent;-Proposal of a working project;-Two letters of recommendation;-A copy of a contract between the candidate and a foreign editorial/publishing house that would certify the publication of the intended translation of a Romanian literary book;

*Note that all of the necessary documents for the application will be written in Romanian (with the exception of the passport/identity card copies, the copies of the graduation papers and the copy of the contract, that should however, be translated into English).

2. Residencies for the translators in training

Deadline for submitting the applications: July 15th, 2016

Annually, the Romanian Cultural Institute offers 9 scholarships destined for translators in training providing them with the possibility of spending two months of study in Romania.

The grant consists of 1 000 Euros (one installment/two months spent in Romania).

The domain for which the evaluation and selection process is going to be performed: translation.

The length of the scholarships: one month.

The requested documents for the application:-Application form;-Resume (that should contain among others: participation to colloquiums, seminaries of translation, conferences, sessions and projects of translation);-A copy of the passport and the identity card containing a stable address;-Copies of the study certificates/graduation papers;-Letter of intent;-Proposal of a working project;-Two letters of recommendation;

*Note that all of the necessary documents for the application will be written in English for the beginner level speakers or in Romanian for the intermediate and the advanced level speakers (with the exception of the passport/identity card copies, the copies of the graduation papers and the copy of the contract, that should however, be translated into English).
